Nearly a million people following a gluten-free diet don’t have celiac disease | USA Today 09-07-16
About 2.7 million Americans avoid gluten in their diet, but 1.76 million have celiac disease, according to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine this week. Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys showed from 2009 to 2014, participants who reported having celiac didn’t exceed 0.77%. During the same period, participants who didn’t have the disease, but avoided gluten more than tripled. <read more>

An investment group started by former Boulder Brands’ executives has closed its first fund, $55 million in capital to be funneled to up-and-coming natural food brands. Boulder Investment Group Reprise (BIGR) was founded by Boulder Brands’ Carole Buyers, senior vice president of investor relations; and Duane Primozich, investment managing partner; who together ran the investment arm of the company, which in November was acquired by New Jersey-based Pinnacle for $975 million. <read more>
