Gluten-Free Easter Candy: A list of 8 popular candy brands

By | March 30, 2024

Below is a list of popular gluten-free Easter candy that’s sure to be a hit on Easter morning, whether it’s for the little ones or self-indulgence.

But remember, it’s a good practice to always check the ingredients listed on the packaging or contact the manufacturer to double-check since ingredients and manufacturing processes can change.

Popular gluten-free Easter candy

Some of my favorite gluten-free Easter candies are listed below. However, always double-check the ingredients label for any potential gluten-containing ingredients.

NOTE: Be on the lookout for barley malt powder in the ingredients list. Some candy makers tend to use malt and barley malt powder in their chocolate (I’m looking at you Lindt!). Malt and barley malt powder are NOT gluten free.

1. Hershey’s Easter Candy

Many Hershey’s chocolates, including Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Eggs and Hershey’s Solid Milk Chocolate Bunny, are typically gluten-free. Several brands owned by Hershey, including Reese’s, offer gluten-free Easter candy too, like the perennial favorite Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs.

2. Cadbury Eggs

Most Cadbury Eggs, such as the classic Cadbury Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs, are typically gluten-free.

3. Jelly Belly Jelly Beans

Jelly Belly jelly beans are generally considered gluten-free. However, some flavors may contain gluten, so it’s essential to check the packaging or contact the manufacturer for specific information.

4. Peeps

Peeps marshmallow treats are typically gluten-free. With the range of colors offered and new Peeps treats coming on the market (e.g., Peeps lollipops), Peeps make a good gluten-free candy that isn’t just for Easter anymore. Peeps offers items for an increasing number of holidays – Christmas and Halloween to name two!

5. Russell Stover Chocolates

Many Russell Stover chocolates, including their assorted chocolate eggs and bunnies, are gluten-free.

6. Ghirardelli Chocolate

Ghirardelli’s chocolate squares and Easter chocolates are generally gluten-free, but it’s essential to review the ingredients list to be certain.

7. Dove Chocolate

Most Dove chocolates, including Dove Milk Chocolate Easter Eggs, are typically gluten-free. Try Dove Dark Chocolate Easter Eggs. You won’t regret it!

8. M&M’s

Plain M&M’s are typically considered gluten-free. But some varieties contain gluten (stay away from Crispy M&Ms!). And some seasonal flavors may contain gluten. Always check the packaging for any gluten-containing ingredients.

Remember, while the candies mentioned above are often considered gluten-free, it’s important to double-check the packaging for any potential gluten-containing ingredients or cross-contamination risks. This is especially crucial if you have celiac disease or a severe gluten intolerance.

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate!
